Rock Devote!

The Curt Jester gets me with the Catholic Devotions Meme.

As I noted in his comments, this is only gonna show what a Catholic n00b I am. I am highly undisciplined in these areas, but am working on it, of course.

1. Favorite devotion or prayer to Jesus? I think the only one I've participated in regularly is the Divine Mercy. Our parish is the diocesan shrine to this devotion and we pray the chaplet after every Sunday Mass.

2. Favorite Marian devotion or prayer? The Rosary. I usually pray it in the car on the drive home from work. Watch out, fellow commuters!

3. Do you wear a scapular or medal? I have a St. Benedict keychain. Does that count?

4. Do you have holy water in your home? I have one bottle and one font at home, just inside the front door. When I installed the font, my wife asked me if I was concerned about Vampires.

5. Do you 'offer up' your sufferings? When I remember to do so, yes, definitely. One of the most beautiful Catholic teachings out there.

6. Do you observe First Fridays and First Saturdays? No, and I don't know anything about it. Will read some articles online.

7. Do you go to Eucharistic Adoration? How frequently? I go monthly to a Youth group-type event that has modern "praise & worship" music and Eucharistic Adoration. I play geetar for this group.

8. Are you a Saturday evening Mass person or Sunday morning Mass person? Sunday morning. I sing in the choir.

9. Do you say prayers at mealtime? Yes, I say the Prayer before Meals. I'm always meaning to say the Prayer after Meals, but in my bloated contentedness, I forget.

10. Favorite Saint(s)? St. Joseph.

11. Can you recite the Apostles Creed by heart? Not perfectly. 1. I've run into too many translations (hell, hades, to the dead, thence, whence...I should just memorize the latin). 2. I still get it confused with the Nicene while saying it from memory.

12. Do you usually say short prayers (aspirations) during the course of the day? Yes, they are usually extempore.

13. Bonus Question: When you pass by a automobile accident or other serious mishap, do you say a quick prayer for the folks involved? I'd have to confess that I forget to do this more often than not. Usually my mind is thinking: "Ah, that's what's been causing the traffic!" or "Did I put the new insurance card in the glove box?".
